Bonjour mon grand garçon
It's incredible that a year has passed since you first graced us with your smile. I still remember that day as though it was yesterday. Grandpapa and I were at the McGaughan's for an evening of dinner and sharing when the telephone rang. Papa was telling us that they were getting ready to go to the hospital and that we should be on call. Well, nothing was going to stop us from being there when you first arrived.... we weren't waiting for a phone call! We picked up Grandma Judy and Poppa, and off the four of us went to Hoag Hospital. It was a long wait in that waiting room, but worth every minute. We tried to sleep, but were too excited to meet you. We prayed as Maman was working hard to bring you into the world, and we prayed as she went into surgery. And then, God answered our prayers with the best possible gift in the world. Dominic Pierre Ricci!
You were the most perfect little boy! And no one could have imagined how much we loved you from the very first second we laid eyes on you. You were so handsome with that dark head of hair and those beautiful eyes! And when they let me hold you, well, it was the most wonderful feeling! Love just poured out of me. And it hasn't stopped.
Since that night a year ago, you have brought so much joy and love into our lives. The days that we spent together while Maman was working, were full of song and games. I can't think of anything I would rather do than rock and sing to you.
You have grown so much in the last year.... and we feel so blessed to have witnessed it. From our arms.... to the little chair... to the high chair.... From walking with your perfect little toes on Grandpapa's big feet... to running away from us. From being nursed.... to eating Macca's french fries with me. What a little man you have grown into!
As your Grandmaman, I only have one job to do.... and that is to love you unconditionally all the days of our lives. There is nothing I would rather do. I will always be here for you.
I am looking forward to the next year, as you learn to talk and sing, get on a tricycle, eat Grandpapa's crepes, play on the beach, and discover new things. I look forward to sitting in the rocking chair and reading to you, taking you to Disneyland, baking cookies and playing building blocks.

Grandmaman t'aime Dominic et je t'aimerais toujours!
Bonne 1ere Fete mon grand garcon!
